b o n Optic , founded by Jochen Kaber in 1982 was originally established as a distributor of new and second hand ophthalmic and optical equipment.
Through hard work and focus bon was able to gain the attention of a series of International Manufacturers who were quick to recognize the benefits of a co-operation with b o n as a partner in Germany. Exclusive Distribution and Service Contracts followed. This provided b o n with a solid platform for growth.
b o n soon outgrew its facility in the center of Lübeck and moved in 1992 to its brand new purpose built facility on the outskirts of the town. This remains the headquarters today.
b o n made the transition in 1993 from distributor to manufacturer with the development of its very first examination unit, the bon “E10”. The hugely successful E20 followed in 1997.
At the turn of the century the first diagnostic devices were launched under the b o n brand name: Autorefractors, Corneal Topography systems and a range of Slit Lamps completed the product portfolio. This coincided with a strategic expansion into international markets. The key to rapid success; innovation and an excellent price quality ratio. The transition from trading company to manufacturer with international appeal is complete.
With the launch of the b o n Sirius and the Fundus Camera Cobra in 2011 b o n reconfirmed its direction into innovative diagnostics.
Today bon offers a full range of Examination Units, Instrument tables and diagnostic devices. An international Sales & Marketing and Service center is located in Lübeck. With the foundation of a Service Center in Saalfeld Thüringen, b o n is one of the few companies offering nationwide service and maintenance.
